The governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in Delta State, Engr. Isaac Eshor, has unveiled an ambitious economic blueprint aimed at transforming the state’s economy through industrialization, maritime development, infrastructure expansion, and youth empowerment ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Speaking on his vision for Delta State, Eshor said his aspiration to govern is driven by a determination to unlock the state’s untapped economic potential and reverse years of underdevelopment affecting many communities.
The engineer and development advocate, who hails from Ebu Kingdom in Oshimili North Local Government Area, argued that despite Delta’s vast natural and human resources, many residents still grapple with poor infrastructure, unemployment, inadequate healthcare, environmental challenges, and limited economic opportunities.
“My aspiration to lead Delta State is driven by a sincere desire to liberate our people from the shackles of underdevelopment and unlock the enormous potential that exists in every community across the state,” Eshor said.
He pledged that an AAC-led administration would prioritize investments in quality roads, healthcare, education, agriculture, technology, and youth empowerment while creating an enabling environment for businesses and investors.
According to him, his government would be anchored on transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance, with development spread across all parts of the state regardless of political or ethnic considerations.
A major highlight of Eshor’s economic agenda is his proposal to establish a world-class dockyard in Delta State, a project he believes could redefine the state’s economic future by leveraging its extensive coastline and strategic maritime location.
He said the facility would position Delta as a leading maritime and industrial hub, drawing parallels with the success of Nigerdock in Lagos.
“Delta State has the coastline, waterways, and strategic location. What has been lacking is the leadership and political will to transform these advantages into economic prosperity for our people,” he stated.
Eshor explained that the proposed dockyard would stimulate economic growth by creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs in shipbuilding, vessel repairs, marine engineering, fabrication, logistics, and transportation, while also attracting local and foreign investment.
He added that the project would provide technical and vocational training opportunities for young people, equipping them with skills required in the maritime and industrial sectors.
“Economic transformation does not happen through speeches alone. It requires deliberate investments in critical infrastructure that can stimulate growth, create jobs, and attract investors. A modern dockyard will help revive Delta’s marine economy and position the state as a destination for maritime business in West Africa,” he said.
Calling on Deltans to embrace what he described as a new era of innovation-driven governance, Eshor expressed confidence that the state could emerge as one of Nigeria’s leading economic centres through purposeful leadership and strategic planning.
“Delta State can be greater than it is today. Together, we can build a future where our youths have opportunities, our communities have development, and our economy works for everyone,” he declared.
The AAC governorship candidate concluded by reaffirming his commitment to delivering sustainable economic growth, industrial expansion, and people-centred governance if elected in 2027, maintaining his campaign slogan: “Eshor is Sure for Delta.”
