The Nigeria Senate has passed that defilement of Minor, male or female now carries life Imprisonment. The motion earlier moved by Sen Adams Oshiomole carrying punishment of twenty years was rejected, and life Imprisonment proposed by Sen Aliero adopted.
The new motion is without option of fine. The senators cited instances in other climes were it carries capital punishment. The initial twenty years proposition by Sen Adams Oshiomole and seconded by Deputy president of the Senate was voted down in favour of a steeper punishment.
